PACKAGING TECHNICIAN

Full Time for Summer Season
Part Time/Possible Full Time for Winter Season
Pay is negotiable and based on experience
Weekly schedule depends on weekly needs of brewing schedule

Duties:

  • Regular attendance to work packaging shifts and other tasks as scheduled by packaging manager weekly.

  • Learn, understand and execute packaging operations according to standard operating procedures.

  • Assist with setup, tear-down, cleaning (CIP) and operation of packaging equipment.

  • Assist with filling kegs, cans or bottles with product during packaging run.

  • Work with Packaging Manager and/or Packaging Technicians to package product.

  • Recognize low fills and improperly filled/packaged product to ensure brewery’s packaging standards are upheld.

  • Prepare flats/boxes/crates before or during packaging run and package filled cans or bottles into flats/boxes/crates.

  • Store finished product safely and neatly in coolers.

  • Log packaged quantities accurately during each packaging run.

  • Clean and sanitize work areas, machines, and equipment as needed or directed.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Packaging Manager and other Packaging Technicians as well as the rest of the Junkyard Team.

  • Inform Packaging Manager of any packaging problems or any machine malfunction.

  • Work safely and maintain a safe working environment.

  • Operate keg washing machine to clean kegs prior to packaging run.

  • Assist with building orders for pickups and deliveries.

  • Assist with stocking beer for the taproom.

  • Willingness to preform other tasks as needed and as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hours: This position averages 40 hours per week, depending on the brewing schedule. Workdays and hours may vary, but are primarily Monday–Friday. Some weeks may consist of four 10-hour shifts, while others may include five 8-hour shifts. Occasional weekend hours may be required. On packaging days, shifts typically begin at 6:30 AM.

  • No previous packaging experience is necessary but is preferable.

  • Ability to work in a moderate noise level.

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures.

  • Ability to work in a wet environment.

  • Ability to work on your feet for 8 hours at a time.

  • Ability to work 10+ hour shifts if needed.

  • Ability to lift 60 pounds and maneuver flats, crates and kegs throughout the entire shift. Must be able to twist/turn, reach over shoulders and crouch/stand/walk on a continual basis.

  • Ability to accurately follow instructions and take direction.

  • Ability to be somewhat flexible for scheduling adjustments.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Dependable, punctual and have a great team-ethic.

  • Have an enthusiastic and positive attitude and be able to handle any setbacks or issues in a professional manner.
